Colton has gone into surgery. So, here is the latest. The surgeon is going to be minimally invasive. There is a large cyst that is blocking the flow of Cerebral Spinal Fluid and causing a back up of fluid in the brain. The surgeon is going to start with deflating that. That should help relieve pressure. Then there is a second smaller cyst that he will try to deflate if it is easy to get to. The there is the third cyst. He will try to get that too, if it does not seem harmful of course. The plan is to leave the tumor alone, pulling out the tumor can be very dangerous and damaging to the sensitive tissues and organs the tumor is sitting next to. He will come out of surgery and recover. Then off to Boston Children’s hospital for proton beam radiation. The duration of that has not been decided yet.
